The Amicable Society of Lazy Ballerinas
WINE BAR LOCATED ON LONDON’S FLEET STREET
Part of the new Fleet Street extension to the Apex Temple Court Hotel, The Amicable Society of Lazy Ballerinas is the hotel’s wine bar located in the ornate double-height entrance hall. The listed building was previously inaccessible to the public, so the new life given to this space enables visitors to enjoy the original historic features (contemporary interventions have been kept to a minimum). Existing white marble panelling, ornate plasterwork and a decorative frieze depicting the cardinal virtues have all been retained, while key architectural features are picked out with the lighting scheme. A simple palette of materials is used for the new fittings and furniture; contrasting Black Dolomite marble for the bar, satin brass trims, white fan tiling and racing green velvet upholstery.
