Ian Springford
Director
Ian began his professional career with Reiach and Hall Architects after graduating from Edinburgh College of Art.
Whilst at Reiach and Hall Architects, Ian was project architect for the refurbishment of the St John's Shopping Centre in Perth, an office development at Edinburgh Park and a city centre office development at West Port, Edinburgh.
He formed the practice with co-director John Thompson in 2000 and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the practice including all projects undertaken by the office. He is also a regular visiting critic at Edinburgh and Napier University where he lectures on Professional Practice and Office Management.

John Thompson
Director
After graduating from Scott Sutherland School of Architecture in Aberdeen, John worked in Berlin before returning to work for Reiach and Hall Architects in Edinburgh.
Whilst working for Reiach and Hall Architects, John built up considerable experience in the education and health care sector where he was project architect for the Stirling Centre for Further Educations (one of the countries first PFI projects) and the University of Glasgow Wolfson Medical School
John co-founded the practice with Ian Springford in 2000 and was project director for all the Apex Hotels projects.

Kerry Nicol
Associate
Kerry joined the practice in 2001 and became an Associate in 2006.
Kerry was project architect for a mixed use development in Edinburgh comprising of 49 private apartments and a 20,000 sq ft office development. She has recently completed Apex London Wall Hotel in London where she was the project architect and associate in charge of the project.

Graham Currie
Associate
Graham joined the practice in 2001 and became an associate in 2008.
He has worked on several of the practices hotel projects for Apex Hotels and was project architect for the extension to the Apex City of London Hotel which was completed in October 2008. He is currently associate in charge for the next Apex Hotel; a 186 bedroom 4 star hotel at 1-2 Serjeants Inn, London

Fiona McNeill
Associate
Fiona joined Ian Springford Architects in 2006 after previously working as design director for JM Architects and a senior architect at RMJM.
Whilst at JM Architects, Fiona led a bid for Aberdeen City Council 3Rs PFI eco-friendly primary school projects. At RMJM she was design team leader for a new sustainable office building for the Scottish Public Pensions Agency and 'ECOSpace' at Carnegie College in Dunfermline; a highly sustainable educational training workshop which achieved BREEAM Excellent. Fiona worked with EMBT/RMJM as a senior architect on the new Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood and was project associate and architect for the conversion of Grade A Listed 23 Waterloo Place to the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel
Fiona is a BSI Accredited Internal Auditor for ISO 9001:2000 and has an Accreditation in Sustainable Architecture from the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, one of only 20 architects in the country.

Emma Franks
Senior Interior Designer
Emma joined the practice in 2007 and leads the offices Interior Design division.
Emma previously worked in London and Amsterdam for a number of design consultancies including Conran Design Group and Rodney Fitch Design Consultants. Upon moving to Edinburgh, she worked on the Scottish Parliament for RMJM Architects and as a senior interior designer for 442 Design.
Emma has a strong background in retail design and exhibition design and has led the development of the interiors of the recent Apex Hotels projects at Apex Waterloo Place Hotel and Apex London Wall Hotel
