Introduction
Ian Springford Architects were established in January 2000 and have enjoyed consistent year on year growth ever since. The practice employs architects and interior designers and is based in Edinburgh with work across the country. The practice has recently established a London office to manage its workload in the capital and increase the practices geographic coverage.
The practice has a diverse workload including residential, commercial office, healthcare and hotel and leisure sectors. The practice undertakes projects with construction values ranging from £100,000 to £30m. We believe this diversity in project type and scale allows us to bring a fresh perspective to all our work with a cross pollination of ideas and construction techniques between sectors.
The practice has a particular expertise in converting and refurbishing existing buildings, particularly 21st century buildings. Our work in the hotel sector demonstrates our ability to deliver complex, highly serviced buildings with strong design qualities. The practice has won many awards for the quality of its design work and is at the forefront of sustainable design. We are currently in the process of acquiring Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland accreditation in sustainable building design.
The practice invests heavily in CAD and IT and operates a sophisticated document management system integrated into the practices Quality Assurance system. The practice is in the process of obtaining ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation and is a member of the RIBA and RIAS.
