New bar & restaurant. Including kitchen, interior design, fit out & furniture design

The restaurant and bar are located in a double height space, looking out over Victoria Dock. The large scale and choice of interior finishes were essential to ensure a lively street presence, and a space in keeping with the restaurant’s context on the waterfront. Light and movement were key elements in the design.

The brief was for a flexible space that could be set up to suit a variety of styles and events and therefore ISA designed furniture that was large enough to define zones, flexible enough to be used in a variety of configurations, but entirely moveable, allowing the space to be used as one if required.

The scale of the double height space is modulated by suspended sculptural lamp shades, which were designed in conjunction with Mike Stoane lighting, specifically for Metro Restaurant.

At night, the bar itself acts as a lantern, with the suspended woven stainless steel canopy illuminated, forming the focal point of the restaurant.

To complement the dramatic lighting, a rich, textured wall of Jarrah timber runs the full length of the rear wall, concealing storage for breakfast, wine racks and cloaks.
